The right base for a driveway that lasts.For new driveways, we cut the area down to grade first, then build it back up using 3-minus breaker rock for the base. The base is what makes the difference between a driveway that holds up and one that needs rework after one winter.
3/4-inch gravel on top for a clean finish.Once the base is set, we top the driveway with 3/4-inch gravel. This gives you a smooth driving surface that sheds water and holds its shape under traffic.
Geotex underlayment when the ground calls for it.If your soil is soft, muddy, or prone to settling, we put geotex underlayment between the cut-down area and the breaker rock base. This keeps the base from sinking into the soil and significantly extends the life of the driveway.
Roll it tight or leave it loose, your call.The final step on a new driveway is rolling it with a vibratory roller for a compact, even surface. If you’d rather leave it loose, we skip the roll. The choice is yours, and we don’t tack on anything you didn’t ask for.
Re-rocking and washout repair, not just new installs.If your driveway just needs a refresh, we bring in fresh gravel and spread it to fill ruts, potholes, and washboard. If a storm took out your access road or washed material into the ditch, we regrade it and rock it back to shape.

Yes. We install new driveways and extensions to reach build sites, parking areas, turnarounds, and back areas of the property. The same base, gravel, and finishing process applies whether the driveway is short or long.

Yes. We handle driveway re-rocking, pothole repair, and washout restoration. Fresh gravel is brought in and spread to fill ruts, potholes, and washboard. If a storm took out your driveway or washed material into the ditch, we regrade the driveway and rock it back to shape.

What is the process for installing a new gravel driveway?

We cut the area down to grade first, then build the driveway back up using 3-minus breaker rock for the base. On top of that base, we put 3/4-inch gravel for the finish surface. If your soil calls for it, we put geotex underlayment between the cut-down area and the breaker rock to keep the base from sinking. The final step is rolling the driveway with a vibratory roller, unless you’d rather leave it loose.

Who operates the equipment on a Mack Land Improvement driveway job?

Kaleb Mack, the owner, personally operates the Cat excavator, Kubota skid steer, and vibratory roller on every driveway job. We have no subcontractors and no rotating operators. The same person who walks the property and writes the quote is the one running the equipment on the job.
